Phnom Penh Designers Week (PPDW) is a prominent biannual fashion event in Cambodia, showcasing local and international talent. Established in 2013 by Filipino designer Don Protasio, who continues as its creative director, the event provides a platform for emerging and established designers to present their work and connect with broader audiences. The Fall/Winter 2024 edition, held on December 7 at the Connexion hub on Koh Pich, features the theme “Fashion in a Changing World.” This reflects contemporary cultural shifts influenced by nostalgia, irony, and post-pandemic realities.
The event includes diverse collections such as SCT’s feminine glamour, A.N.D.’s boho-chic styles with cotton ikat fabrics, and Protasio’s minimalist designs. Menswear highlights include urban styles by Ambre Men and innovative takes by Christine Gauthier, who incorporates vintage and locally sourced materials. PPDW also serves to boost the recognition and market reach of Cambodia’s small but vibrant fashion community.
The lineup for the Fall/Winter 2024 edition of Phnom Penh Designers Week included six new collections from various designers, each bringing a unique style to the showcase:
- SCT: Known for its feminine glamour, featuring elegant and sophisticated designs.
- A.N.D.: A boho-chic aesthetic, incorporating traditional Cambodian cotton ikat fabrics, designed by Alan James Flux.
